Map Guide— Waterpark

For the first time in 10 years, new maps are joining the original THPS 3 + 4 lineup, and Waterpark leads the charge. Read on for a first Bird’s Eye preview!

In the next-gen release of Tony Hawk’s™ Pro Skater™ 3 + 4, players skate remakes of all the original parks plus new ones like Waterpark, first glimpsed in the game’s reveal trailer. Set in the Mojave Desert, the theme park has seen better days—its slides rusted, graffiti on the walls, and a drained out lazy river, all create the perfect skate obstacle for circling the map.

Skip the line and grind down a variety of monster slides like Down the Drain, Peak Cyclone, and Twisted Vipers, or cool off with a quick heelflip over the fountain. For the first time in 10 years, new maps are joining the original THPS 3 + 4 lineup, and Waterpark leads the charge with a summer-themed level perfectly suited to the game’s July 11 launch date. Bird’s Eye View: Waterpark

Map out the perfect skate with the following points of interest around the map:

Marquee

Under the shadow of the Peak Cyclone ride, the marquee is host to a compact mix of ramps with a center piece that glides straight toward some solid grinds. This is a great area for combos, where close-together obstacles create faster transitions and more opportunities for back-to-back tricks.

The entrance to Cold Rush sits near the arcade while the other end gives access to Peak Cyclone and Twisted Vipers, their entryways flanking a skateable pool near a round play structure with a grindable top.

Lazy River & Fountain

The drained-out river snakes around the middle of the park, creating an extensive vert ramp that touches all corners of the map. Several walkways and water features connect the two sides for a quick transition between the courtyard and outer walkway, while the railings and ramp ledges add grind potential as you move along the river’s path.

When skating the inner courtyard, get some air over the center fountain and manual along the walkway between grinds. The ramps at the bottom of the castle towers offer your best bet at getting vertical in an otherwise grind heavy environment.

Playground

Skate up the short, covered slides in the middle, as well as on and around the wooden ship in Pirate’s Bay. In Tour mode, you’ll need to drain the water around the ship; to board it, try grinding the low wooden railing into a wall ride and down onto the deck.

The Down the Drain slide curves over the playground, its bowl dropping into a slide that shoots back toward the lazy river. Watch your balance meter when grinding down the top of the slide toward the drain.

Main Gate

The main gate runs adjacent to a long grindable platform holding up what remains of the park’s welcome sign. The smoothest grind is found on its high back side; pop a boneless to get the height needed to reach the ledge. Some rails offer further chances to grind, attached to an archway at the foot of a bridge leading toward the inner courtyard and fountain.

Castle Grind

Two railed platforms under the castle slide are easily connected with a manual, while the rails just long enough to hit a kickflip or other jump trick to up your combo. Both sides end in ramps giving you the air to hit another trick on your way out. Once you’ve delivered the arcade keys, the entrances to the castle slide will open. Skate through to reach the top of the slide and drop down for an epic ride.

The Rides

The six rides scattered along the park’s perimeter are the main draw for thrill seekers looking to hit insane tricks. Getting to the bottom in one piece requires some practice, but it’s well worth the effort. Each slide offers a unique challenge with the potential to hit some gnarly tricks on the way down.

Pro Tips

1. Hit up the rides: The park rides aren’t just for show. Skate through the various ground floor entrances to get teleported to the top for a wild ride down. While some slides are more challenging to navigate than others, it’s worth practicing them all for the combos you can pull off. Grab the arcade keys to get into the castle slide.

2. Track the lazy river. Skate down the middle of it busting out heelflips and manuals, get air going back and forth on its sides, grind down its ledges—the river is a trick haven for creative skaters. Track its course for a while as it navigates through all the main parts of the map.

3. Skate the border. Don’t miss opportunities to explore the outside edges of the map. Look for ledges and platforms to help jump up or drop down from a ride. The thin pathways can be tricky to navigate but lead to several important Tour pickups around the park.

4. Acid drop up and across. The archways on both sides of the grinding rails under the castle slide each have ramps against their columns. Use these to acid drop up and across for an awesome transition that beats just wheeling through its opening.

5. Flip your stats. Remember that you can always switch around your stats to suit your current goals. Jack up air and hangtime to pull off sick vert tricks in the lazy river or focus on rail and manual balance to excel with grinds. Experiment with different combinations and keep collecting stat points in Tour mode to increase your skater’s overall performance.
